We help women who are newcomers, refugees and immigrants deal with gender-specific issues with compassion and empathy. We provide confidential services to help the women and their children cope with domestic abuse, live without violence, find safe and affordable housing, and address mental health challenges. Our offerings including case management, individual and group counselling, parenting skills-building, health and wellness activities and recreational resources.
We help newcomer youth get the support they need to be all they can be. We have settlement workers located in Scarborough schools to help newcomers and their families adjust to the social fabric of their new school and community. Information on Ontario’s school system and assistance in facilitating a clear line of communication between newcomer and school is featured. Kids and their parents receive supportive one-on-one counselling, with a focus on settlement needs and the development of an individual plan designed to support success in school. The kids are also connected to specialized community resources, such as youth drop-ins, parent groups and free summer activities.
