Refugee and Advocacy

Since CCS’ inception in 1954, we have demonstrated an unswerving commitment to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the world’s most vulnerable people, especially those forced to flee their homeland. Often, these individuals are permanently displaced and are never able to return home.  Many Canadians support these refugees by sponsoring them and helping them build a new life in Canada. This is where CCS comes in. Our Refugee Sponsorship Training Program (RSTP) provides training, information, advice and support to groups across Canada that sponsor refugees for resettlement under the Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) program and the Blended Visa Office Referred (BVOR) program. RSTP Trainers are located in seven major cities: Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Halifax.

We are also active community builders and social innovation advocates. CCS is the lead agency for the Toronto East Quadrant Local Immigration Partnership, a collaborative, community-based partnership that involves diverse service providers, stakeholders and newcomers in community-based planning and development of innovative solutions around the needs of newcomers in Scarborough, while promoting the efficient use of resources.
