Hybrid Newcomer LGBTQ+ program

Newcomers to Canada experience many challenges and being part of the LGBTQ+ community can add an additional layer of challenges in the settlement process. The hybrid LGBTQ+ online program provides newcomer individuals in LGBTQ+ community and those who are questioning their sexual identity a safe place to discuss LGBTQ+ topics and discuss their concerns and questions as well as be connected to resources and services that can support them.

The one on one sessions help clients with questions and concerns that are specific to them and help them to access the services and information that they need to settle in Canada.

The individual sessions also help the develop plans on next steps in their transition to life in Canada and what they would need to be aware to make this life in their country easier.

The program also offers group sessions in a friendly and environment where clients can learn about health and safety, employment rights and responsibilities, legal services, gender identity/ expression and supports and other topics-based clients needs and requests. The sessions also offer the clients the opportunity to build social connections and make friends with others from the community. The LGBTQ+ worker also provides information to the community to help them understand the Understanding LGBTQ+ Community & How to Support them.
