The Private Sponsorship of Refugees Program is a partnership program administered by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and the citizens and landed immigrants of Canada – in our case the Roman Catholic Church, to extend Canada’s capacity to resettle refugees from abroad.

Program Description:

• Provide information to individuals regarding coming to Canada as a sponsored refugee
• Provide information and support to parishes wishing to sponsor a refugee individual and/or family
• Through the Archdiocese, to match willing parishes with families and individuals requiring sponsorship in order to resettle in Canada.

CCS has administered the Refugees Sponsorship Training Program (RSTP) since April 2008. The RSTP is a program designed to support the Sponsorship Agreement Holders (SAHs) of Canada, their Constituent Groups, Groups of Five and Community Sponsors interested in sponsoring refugees. The objective of RSTP is to address, on a national level, the information and ongoing training needs of the sponsorship community and the initial information needs of refugees.
