Pre-Employment Preparation Services

Work 1-on-1 with an Employment Access Coach to create an Employment Action Plan that will build the skills needed to conduct an effective job search and find gainful employment.  The program provides guidance and support to individuals seeking employment in the Canadian Labour Market and includes on-going follow-up.

 

For internationally trained health professionals, interested in pursuing a career in healthcare in Canada, we also offer targeted employment training which provides an orientation to working in the Healthcare sector - Medical Technology Profession in Ontario. The training includes a volunteer placement, First Aid and CPR training and WHIMS training. (Scarborough only)  

Targeted Employment Services (Formerly Enhanced Language Training, ELT)

Program Highlights
  • Develop communication skills specific to the healthcare sector
  • Learn essential knowledge about workplace culture, norms and standards for healthcare in Toronto
  • Meet and network with locally employed healthcare workers
  • Gain experience and practice your communication skills during a volunteer work placement
  • Receive professional information and advice to prepare for future licensure

Eligibility

Open to landed immigrants, convention refugees, and individual on a Minister's Permit with intermediate English skills and a background in healthcare.

General Employment Services (Formerly Job Search Workshop, JSW)

 

Program Highlights
  • Research labour market information and job opportunities in Canada

  • Assess your employability skills and create a Master Inventory of your skills
  • Assess the hidden job market and build networks
  • Prepare for interviews, practice effectice telephone techniques and much more!
  • Learn how Canadian employers recruit and the tips to get your resume read
  • Learn about various job search techniques
  • Prepare professional, marketable, targeted resumes and cover letters
  • Practice cold calling
  • Improve your interviewing skills by practicing common questions

Eligibility

Open to landed immigrants, convention refugees, and live-in-caregivers.

 

Training Sessions

General Employment Sessions are held weekdays in daytime or evening format.
